You Never Know Where a Signing Will Take You
One thing I’ve learned as a mobile notary: no two days are ever quite the same.
One day I may be sitting at a kitchen table helping someone complete an important estate-planning signing. The next, I’m meeting a client at a hospital, assisted-living facility, office, nursing home, or somewhere completely unexpected.
That’s the beauty — and sometimes the shenanigans — of being a mobile notary.
As the owner of Mendoza Coastal Notary in Palm Coast, Florida, I travel to my clients throughout Flagler County and surrounding areas because sometimes getting to a notary office simply isn’t convenient — or even possible.
More Than a Stamp and a Signature
People are often surprised by the variety of situations a mobile notary encounters.
A typical week might include:
Powers of attorney and healthcare directives
Wills, trusts, and other estate-planning documents
Buyer and seller real estate packages
Refinances, HELOCs, and reverse mortgages
Apostille-related document assistance
VIN verifications
General affidavits and sworn statements
Hospital and assisted-living appointments
And yes… the occasional situation nobody could have predicted!
Every appointment brings different people, circumstances, questions, locations, and sometimes a story worth remembering.
Why Mobile Matters
For many of my clients, mobile service isn’t simply a convenience.
Sometimes a signer is hospitalized or has limited mobility. Sometimes an entire family is gathered together for estate-planning documents. Sometimes a real estate package arrives with a tight deadline. And sometimes somebody realizes at the last minute:
“I need this notarized TODAY.”
That’s when having a local mobile notary can make a big difference.
My goal is always to make the notarization process as organized, professional, and comfortable as possible while meeting clients where they are.
And Then There Are the Shenanigans…
If you spend enough time traveling around with a notary bag, printer, scanner, pens, stamps, documents, and GPS directions, you eventually collect some stories.
Some are funny.
Some are heartwarming.
Some teach valuable lessons.
And some make you get back into your car afterward and say, “Well… that was a first.”
😂
That’s what this blog is going to be about.
Notary Notes & Shenanigans will include practical notary tips, answers to common questions, estate-planning and apostille information, lessons from the road, local adventures, behind-the-scenes moments, and occasionally one of those stories that could only happen to a mobile notary.
Welcome aboard.
I have a feeling we're going to have plenty to talk about.
